POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Purple Eagles fell to the Marist Red Foxes, 82-69, in their final game of the regular season on Saturday.

Game Recap
  • The first quarter was a back and forth affair between the Purple Eagles and the Red Foxes. Maggie McIntyre sank her first triple of the game to tie the score, 5-5. A trey from Jordan Edwards gave NU its first lead of the game, 8-7. Five points from Adila Gathers kept Niagara ahead by one, 13-12. Marist, however, led narrowly, 19-14, at the end of the first quarter.
  • Marist began pulling away in the second quarter, taking a 35-17 lead over the Purple Eagles. Niagara went on an 8-0 run, including five points from McIntyre and three from Kharysma Bryant, to cut the Red Foxes' lead to 10, 35-25, with a little over four minutes to go in the first half. Bryant hit her second 3-pointer of the quarter with about 2:12 remaining to put NU down by only nine, 39-30. Gathers scored five more points to close out the quarter for NU, but Marist remained in the lead, 47-35, going into halftime.
  • In the third quarter, Edwards and Bryant both sank 3-pointers for Niagara, but Marist was dominant, holding NU to only 13 points in the quarter. The Red Foxes led the Purple Eagles, 66-48, going into the final quarter.
  • With a little over eight minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, McIntyre hit her third triple of the game. Dagny Davidsdottir and Morgan Baughman also sank treys in the fourth quarter and Emerald Ekpiteta and Jai Moore each added four points, but it was not enough to overcome Marist's lead as Niagara fell to the Red Foxes, 82-69.

Eagle's Eye On…
  • Gathers recorded her second career double-double and led the Purple Eagles with 10 rebounds and a career-high 16 points.
  • McIntyre added 11 points for the Purple Eagles and dished out a team-high seven assists.
  • Edwards scored nine points, tying her career-high. She also made a career-high two 3-pointers.
  • Bryant tied her career-high with three 3-pointers.
  • Bryant and Ekpiteta each added nine points for Niagara.

  • The Purple Eagles have clinched the eight-seed in the MAAC Tournament, which will be held at the Times Union Center in Albany, N.Y. Niagara will face No. 9 Fairfield on Thursday, March 7 at 9:30 a.m.
