Women's Basketball Takes On MAAC-Leading Quinnipiac

The Purple Eagles take on Quinnipiac on Thursday, Feb. 7 and are looking to hand the Bobcats their first MAAC loss of the season.

Last Time Out
  • The Purple Eagles dominated Saint Peter's on Feb. 4, defeating the Peacocks 81-57 in their highest scoring game of the season.
  • Jai Moore led the Purple Eagles in scoring with 21 points.
  • Maggie McIntyre led the team in assists with nine, which is her career-high.

7-3 Looks Good On You, NU
  • The Purple Eagles are off to their best MAAC start since the 2004-05 season, going 7-3 through their first 10 conference games.
  • Niagara opened conference play with an 87-58 loss to Marist, before bouncing back with three straight wins, defeating Manhattan (61-51), Saint Peter's (75-66) and Iona (58-46). The Purple Eagles fell to Quinnipiac, 96-55, on Jan. 18, before getting back on track with wins against Fairfield (71-68 in overtime) and Manhattan (58-54). NU fell to Monmouth on Jan. 26 and then defeated Iona at the Gallagher Center on Feb. 2 and earned a commanding win over Saint Peter's on Feb. 4.
  • Niagara's win at Iona was its first victory against the Gaels on the road since 2012.
 
Hidden Gem
  • Emerald Ekpiteta has had a breakout season for the Purple Eagles in her sophomore campaign.
  • Ekpiteta leads the team in double-doubles with four. She recorded the first double-double of her career against Morgan State (Nov. 17) with 12 points and 11 rebounds. She recorded two straight double-doubles with a career-high 13 points and 12 rebounds against Manhattan (Jan. 5) and with 13 points and 11 rebounds against Saint Peter's (Jan. 10). Her fourth double-double came against Fairfied (Jan. 20) when she scored 11 points and brought down 13 rebounds.
  • Ekpiteta brought down a career-high 16 rebounds in NU's victory over Colgate on New Year's Eve.
 
Who Wants More From Jai Moore?
  • Jai Moore dropped a career-high 31 points in the Purple Eagles' 74-69 victory over Colgate on Dec. 31.
  • So far this season, Moore has scored in double figures in 18 out of 22 games.
  • Moore has scored 20 or more points in eight games this season.
 
On The Court
Quinnipiac Bobcats (15-6, 10-0 MAAC)
  • The Bobcats are the only team in the MAAC that is still unbeaten in conference play. 
  • Guards Jen Fay and Aryn McClure lead the Bobcats in scoring. Fay averages 11.3 points per game and McClure averages 10.3 points per game. They also lead the team in rebounds. Fay is averaging 6.4 points per game and McClure is averaging 6.1 rebounds per game.
