Women’s Basketball Falls to Quinnipiac

Hamden, CT — Kenedie Haruna put together 12 points off the bench to pace the Purple Eagles in a 54-38 loss to Quinnipiac on Thursday at M&T Bank Arena in Hamden CT.
 
Chasity Wilson added six points and Katarina Veljovic also finished with six, making her presence felt on both ends of the floor with a block and a steal to go with three rebounds in 23 minutes. Jordyn Williams contributed seven points, eight rebounds, four assists and two blocks.
 
Jisca Bila added a three-pointer in the second quarter that cut the Bobcats lead to three. In the second quarter the Purple Eagles outscored the Bobcats 12-10 to pull within single digits at 24-18 heading into halftime which was from a 6-0 run midway through the quarter, followed by another 5-0 burst.
 
Coming out of the break Veljovic recorded a layup to cut the deficit to six followed by a pair of free throws from Jordyn Williams. By the end of the third, Quinnipiac had extended the lead form six points at the half out to 12, closing the quarter out with a Bobcat layup that beat the buzzer.
 
Freshman Kenedie Haruna shot 5-of-14 from the field including 2-of-8 from 3-point range. With Niagara trailing by 17 in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter, Haruna went on a personal 7-0 run, draining back-to-back 3-pointers and capping it with a layup.

• Niagara goes to 6-21 against Quinnipiac following Thursday's loss
• The Purple and White tied the fewest points they have scored against Quinnipiac with 38, the last time they scored 38 points against the Bobcats was on February 8, 2025
• Haruna has recorded double-digit points in five time this season, Haruna has led Niagara in scoring twice this season
• The last time Talia Dial has gone scoreless in a game was on March 8, 2023, when she attended Scottsdale Community College
• Williams tied a career best in blocks with two, it marks the fourth time she has recorded two blocks in one contest, the sophomore also tied a career best in rebounds with eight along with a career best in assists with four
