SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Niagara Purple Eagles battled their way to a 4-3 victory over the Colgate Raiders to earn their first win of the season on Sunday.

Match Summary

• The Purple Eagles won two of the three doubles matches to take the point.
• In No. 1 doubles, the team of Chhinda Som and Megan Gamble squeaked out a 7-5 victory. In three doubles, Olga Donchu and Ali Hutchinson topped Nicole Condas and Ballie Bartimer, 6-4.
• NU and Colgate split the six singles matches with the Purple Eagles claiming wins in one, four and five singles. NU lost in three sets in two, three, and in six singles.
• Som defeated Mackenzie Deeter, 7-5, 6-2, in No. 1 singles.
• Donchu beat Madi Kiani in straight sets, 6-0, 7-5.
• Erika Gonzalez won 6-3, 4-6, 6-1.

• Chhinda Som and Olga Donchu each won their third match of the season to share team-high marks.
• The doubles team of Olga Donchu and Ali Hutchinson improved to 3-3 on the season.
• Erika Gonzalez won her first collegiate match in her third career match.
