PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Purple Eagles fell to the Big Ten's Rutgers Scarlet Knights, 86-39, on Sunday afternoon.
Game Summary
Rutgers' size and length, as well as efficient shooting, overmatched the young Purple Eagles. The Scarlet Knights shot 59 percent from the field which is their best percentage against a Division I team in three seasons. The Scarlet Knights made 8 of their first 11 shots to sprint out to a 21-4 lead six minutes into the contest. A
Noah Waterman 3-pointer and a
Raheem Solomon basket trimmed the deficit to 29-11 as NU was only outscored 13-9 in the final 8:45 of the first half to trail 39-15. Rutgers opened the second half with a 13-4 run in five minutes as the Scarlet Knights' lead ballooned to as much as 48 points in the final minutes of the game.
