NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – The Niagara University men's basketball team defeated Roberts Wesleyan, 72-57, in its lone tune-up for the 2019-20 season.
Game Summary
Niagara built an early 12-7 lead after a
Marcus Hammond 3-pointer. RWU, then, scored six straight points to take its only lead of the game. The Purple Eagles answered with a 14-4 run behind
Raheem Solomon's five points for a 26-15 lead with six minutes left in the half. The Purple Eagles went into halftime leading 34-26.
The RedHawks cut Niagara's lead to 36-30 three minutes into the second half. On the next possession, Solomon connected on a triple to spark a 9-2 run. From there, Niagara extended its lead with several Purple Eagles contributing.
Italo Cicotti's layup with three minutes remaining gave Niagara's its largest lead of the game at 70-44.
