NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – The Niagara men's hockey team dropped its second straight game, 3-1, at home against Sacred Heart. The Purple Eagles got a third period goal from Lancaster, New York native
Ryan Cook, but couldn't overcome an early deficit with their late-game push.

- Coming off a power play opportunity, Niagara continued to pour on pressure and pressure Sacred Heart. A sequence just six minutes in saw the Purple Eagles get shots from Ryan Cook, Scott Persson, and Dylan Mills on net but all three were saved.
- Later in the first with the Pioneers on a man advantage, Noah Delmas wrapped up the penalty kill with a quality offensive chance that was ultimately turned aside.
- The Purple Eagles went back on the power play with four minutes left in the opening frame, Niagara mustered up three shots and sustained pressure for nearly two minutes in the Sacred Heart zone before the Pioneers returned to full strength and cleared the puck.
- Midway through the second, Jack Billings followed up a shot by Delmas and took two of his own from in tight. Despite both shots being saved, the effort in close drew a slashing call and sent the Pioneers back to the penalty box.
- After Sacred Heart killed off yet another penalty eight minutes into the third, the Purple Eagles made the Pioneers' end their own. For more than six minutes, Niagara pressed and took a flurry of shots. After 15 shot attempts and two power plays, the team was finally rewarded when Ryan Cook beat Josh Benson to make it a 3-1 game.

- The Purple Eagles hit the road again for a non-conference matchup with national No. 1 Denver. Niagara will play two games against the Pioneers, on Friday, November 1 and Saturday, November 2. Both games are slated to start at 9:07 p.m. Eastern Time.
