NIAGARA UNIV, N.Y. – The Niagara Purple Eagles played crosstown rival Canisius to a scoreless draw on Wednesday night.

SYNOPSIS
The latest edition of the Battle of the Bridge ended in a tie for the third consecutive meeting. A cagey first half which saw the Purple Eagles outshoot the Golden Griffins, 8-0, was followed by an exciting second half with end-to-end action. Both teams had decent scoring chances that were denied by the opposing keepers as the game headed into overtime. Neither team was able to find the winner in the extra 20 minutes.  

MOMENTS
  • 46' – The Purple Eagles nearly scored one minute into the second half when Djeynaba Thiam played a cross to Annie Ibey in the box, but her shot sailed wide.
  • 53 – Canisius' Madlein Beaulieu had her close range shot saved by Sabrina Locas.
  • 54' – Annie Ibey had a shot saved to the far post.
  • 83' – Sabrina Locas made a game saving stop when Lexi Perry jumped on a loose ball in the box, but her shot was saved when Locas made a diving save to her left.
  • 90' – Ibey nearly won the game in the final minute. Kelsey Araujo played her on and Ibey's chip was saved for a corner.

  • Annie Ibey and Veda Hensel each had six shots, which were game-highs. Ibey's three shots on goal were a game-high.
