Prochet Ties Career-High As Comeback Bid Falls Short

NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – Marvin Prochet tied his career high in scoring for the second straight game with a team-high 24 points as the Purple Eagles were edged by the Saint Peter's Peacocks, 74-72, on Tuesday night.

Game Summary
The first half between the Purple Eagles and the Peacocks was a close affair, with neither team leading by more than one possession through 15 minutes of action.
 
Niagara earned its first lead of the game early on, when Marvin Prochet drained a 3-pointer off a pair of passes from James Towns and Chris Barton to take a 7-4 lead. Neither team was able to gain a sizeable lead until Saint Peter's went on a 16-4 run in the waning minutes of the first half to take an 11-point lead, 40-29.
 
With under one minute left in the half, Towns and Prochet hit back-to-back 3-pointers to close out the half trailing 40-35. Prochet went 4-for-4 from beyond the arc in the first half.
 
The Peacocks led 67-57 with 6:30 remaining when the Purple Eagles reeled off a 9-0 run in a four-minute span. The run extended to a 14-2 spurt with Raheem Solomon drilling a 3-pointer to put Niagara ahead for the first time in the half, 71-69, with 1:17 left.
 
The Peacocks tied the game on their next possession with a pair of free throws. After a Niagara turnover, Saint Peter's Manny Dixon made the game-winning 3-pointer with six seconds remaining. Saint Peter's sent James Towns to the line where he made 1 of 2 free throws, but the Purple Eagles were unable to get another possession.

Eagle's Eye On…
  • For the second consecutive game, Marvin Prochet tied his career-high in scoring with 24 points to lead the Purple Eagles. Prochet hit a career-high six 3-pointers, including his first five attempts. Prochet also had a team-high eight rebounds and co-led in assists with three.
  • Chis Barton recorded 11 points for the Purple Eagles, his second consecutive game with double-digit scoring.
  • Raheem Solomon added 15 points on a career-high five 3-pointers.  
  • Dominic Robb had nine points and two blocks for the Purple Eagles.
