JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Purple Eagles women's basketball team earned its second straight conference win, defeating the Saint Peter's Peacocks, 75-66, on Thursday. This is the first time Niagara has started MAAC play 2-1 since the 2014-15 season and this was NU's first road win this season.

Game Recap
  • The first quarter started off close between the Purple Eagles and the Peacocks, but Niagara began to pull away from Saint Peter's late in the quarter, with seven different Purple Eagles contributing points during the first 10 minutes of play. With under two minutes to go in the quarter, Ally Haar added a bucket off a steal from Jai Moore, putting Niagara in the lead, 17-12. Moore converted a 3-point play and a bucket from Dagny Davidsdottir with a little over 10 seconds remaining in the quarter put Niagara ahead, 22-14, going into the second quarter.
  • Niagara continued to roll in the second quarter. Five straight points from Emerald Ekpiteta gave NU a 31-22 lead over the Peacocks with a little under five minutes to play in the first half. A bucket from Moore started Niagara on a 9-0 run, which included a 3-pointer from Maggie McIntyre, her second of the game, and four points from Davidsdottir, giving the Purple Eagles a comfortable 40-27 lead. Four points from Kharysma Bryant closed out the quarter and gave Niagara a 46-30 lead going into halftime.
  • The Purple Eagles continued to dominate in the third quarter. Six points from Moore, two more from Ekpiteta and another trey from McIntyre gave NU the 54-40 advantage over the Peacocks. A three from Haar closed out scoring in the third quarter and kept the Purple Eagles in the lead, 62-45, going into the fourth quarter.
  • Moore added eight points in the fourth quarter and McIntyre sank her fourth 3-pointer of the game, helping lift the Purple Eagles over the Peacocks, 75-66.

Eagle's Eye On…
  • Moore led all scorers with 21 points. Moore has scored in double figures in 12 games so far this season and this is her fourth game scoring 20 or more points. She also led the team in steals with four, tying her career-high.
  • Ekpiteta recorded her second straight, and third overall, double-double. She had 13 points, tying her career-high, and 11 rebounds.
  • Adila Gathers led the Purple Eagles in rebounding with a career-high 13 rebounds.
  • McIntyre added 12 points for NU and Davidsdottir had 10 points.
  • Davidsdottir, Moore and Bryant each recorded six rebounds.

  • The Purple Eagles continue their first conference road trip of the season, taking on the Iona Gaels on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 1:00 p.m. The game is set to air live on ESPN3.
