WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The Niagara Purple Eagles started their final invitational of the season with a 3-0 setback to the host, Hartford Hawks, on Friday night.
 
Match Summary
First Set

• Niagara scored the first three points on its way to a 4-1 lead.
• Hartford took its first lead of the match with a 5-1 run, as both teams went point for point.
• NU led 12-11 when the Hawks reeled off four straight points to regain the lead.
• Niagara trailed 22-21 after a kill by Caroline Leitch, but the Hawks finished the match with three straight points.

Second Set

• The Purple Eagles found themselves in an early hole, down 8-1.
• Niagara, however, stormed back into the match to trail 20-19.
• Niagara was on serve, but Hartford's Megan Anderson block Reva Blitz's attack to give Hartford a 21-19 lead.
• The Hawks closed out the set, 25-21

Third Set

• The set was tied at 9-9 when the Hawks went on a set-changing 6-1 run.
• The Purple Eagles trimmed the deficit to 17-14 and to 22-19.
• Hartford clinched the set at 25-21 for the third consecutive set.
   

Eagle's Eye On…

• Caroline Leitch narrowly missed a double-double in the match. She finished with 12 kills and nine digs. The 12 kills ties a season-high and the nine digs are a season-best. Leitch was the only Purple Eagle in double digit kills.
• Freshman Jessica Streuer led the Purple Eagles with a career-high 25 assists and chipped in six digs.
• Mary Redl had seven kills on 18 attempts for a .333 hitting percentage.
• Grace Hetterscheidt finished with a .500 hitting percentage with six kills on 10 attempts.
