RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The Niagara women's volleyball team improved to 3-2 in MAAC play with a 3-1 victory over the Manhattan Jaspers on Saturday.

Match Summary      
First Set

• The first set was a close battle between the Purple Eagles and the Jaspers, with the lead changing 13 times throughout the set.
• Midway through the set, Niagara led the Jaspers, 15-13, but Manhattan quickly tied things up, 15-15. NU and Manhattan rallied back and forth, but the Purple Eagles reclaimed the lead, 20-18, thanks to two straight kills from Jaycie Roberts.
• Niagara led, 21-19, before a 3-0 run from the Jaspers put them back on top, 22-23. Niagara tied things up, 23-23, but the Jaspers came away with the first set, 25-23.

Second Set

• A 4-0 run early in the second set helped the Purple Eagles jump out to a 6-2 lead over the Jaspers. Another 4-0 Niagara run midway through the set extended the lead for the Purple Eagles, 15-8.
• The Jaspers answered with a 4-0 run of their own to come within three points of NU, 15-12, but the Purple Eagles maintained control of the board and won the second set, 25-20, to tie the match at one set apiece.

Third Set

• Niagara came out strong in the third set. A 5-0 run, including two kills from both Roberts and Caroline Leitch, put NU ahead of Manhattan, 14-6.
• Manhattan came within two points of the lead, 16-14, but a 4-0 run from the Purple Eagles kept them ahead, 20-14.
• Niagara controlled the remainder of the set, winning the second set 25-21 to take the match lead, 2-1.

Fourth Set

• The Purple Eagles dominated the fourth set, giving the Jaspers limited opportunities to score.
• A 5-0 run gave the Purple Eagles a commanding 20-9 lead over the Jaspers. While Manhattan would battle its way back to within seven points of NU, 24-17, the Purple Eagles controlled the set, earning the 25-17 victory and winning the match, 3-1.

Eagle's Eye On…

• Leitch had a team-high 17 kills and a team-best .400 hitting percentage.
• Emillie Wright led the team in digs with 16.
• Roberts recorded her third double-double of the season with 14 kills and 14 digs.
• Jessica Streuer led the Purple Eagles in assists with 40.
