NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – Five Purple Eagles scored in double figures on their way to an 83-75 victory over the Norfolk State Spartans on Saturday.
Game Summary
The Purple Eagles led for almost 38 minutes and had a 15-point lead with five minutes remaining in the game.
Niagara scored nine straight points as part of a 12-2 start to the game.
Marvin Prochet drained three consecutive 3-pointers in the tailend of the run. NU led 17-10 before the Spartans reeled off eight straight points for their first lead of the game at 18-17. Trailing 21-19 with 10 minutes left in the half,
Raheem Solomon and
Kierell Green combined to score six points as part of a 6-0 run. NU later built a 38-28 lead with four minutes left in the half and went into the break leading 43-35.
The Spartans trimmed Niagara's lead to 47-44, but the Purple Eagles answered with a game-changing 8-0 spurt in a three-minute span. Prochet connected on his fourth 3-pointer of the game to start the run, followed by a
Keleaf Tate layup and a
James Towns 3-point play, as NU led 55-44 with 13:41 on the clock.
After a 6-1 run by the Spartans cut the lead to 56-50 with 10:58 remaining, the Purple Eagles outscored Norfolk State 8-2 over the next two minutes. A 7-0 run by Niagara pushed the Purple Eagles' lead to 71-56, their largest of the game, with 5:24 left.

- James Towns nearly missed a triple-double. He finished with 15 points, including a career-high 11 free throws made, a career-high 10 assists, and tied a career-high with seven rebounds.
- Marvin Prochet scored a game-high 23 points on 8 of 14 shooting from the field for his fifth 20-point game of the season. Prochet had a team-high eight rebounds and added three assists.
- Dominic Robb netted 11 points, five rebounds and had three blocks for his ninth 3-block game of the season.
- Keleaf Tate scored 14 points to be in double figures for the sixth time.
- Raheem Solomon added 11 points and had a career-best four assists.
