CLEVELAND – The Niagara Purple Eagles had their three-game win streak snapped in an 82-60 defeat to the Cleveland State Vikings on Wednesday night.

Game Summary
The Purple Eagles never led in tonight's meeting. After falling behind early, Niagara stayed within striking distance throughout the contest until the last six minutes when the Vikings closed the game on a 19-2 run.

After trailing 8-2 early, Niagara had a 5-0 spurt to cut the lead to 18-16 at the nine-minute mark; Cleveland State answered with a 5-0 run of its own. Marcus Hammond connected on his second 3-pointer of the half as NU trailed 25-22 with 4:29 remaining, but the Vikings went on a 7-2 run over the next two minutes. The Purple Eagles ended the half scoring the last four points, all coming from Marvin Prochet.

The run continued to start the second half when James Towns drained a 3-pointer to bring Niagara within one point at 32-31. Cleveland State's Tyree Appleby connected on a 3-pointer of his own on the Vikings' next possession and Cleveland State eventually built a 43-33 lead with an 8-0 run.

Back-to-back dunks by Dominic Robb cut CSU's lead to 43-37, but the Vikings responded with a 6-1 run to regain their double-digit lead at 49-38 with 12:35 remaining. Niagara trimmed the deficit to six points on three occasions over the next five minutes and trailed 63-58 with 6:18 left after a Greg King free throw. The Purple Eagles, though, only managed to score two more points for the rest of the game while the Vikings extended their lead during Niagara's scoreless drought.
