Moore Sets Career-High In Close Loss To Howard

NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – Jai Moore scored a career-high 23 points in the Purple Eagles' close 68-61 loss to the Howard Bison on Saturday.

Game Recap
  • The Purple Eagles and the Bison kept things close in the first quarter. The Purple Eagles took the lead, 9-6, after a 3-pointer from Maggie McIntyre and a jumper from Jai Moore. Niagara led Howard, 14-12, at the end of the first quarter.
  • Niagara had its biggest lead of the game, 20-14, midway through the second quarter, but the Bison led going into halftime, 30-26.
  • A 3-pointer from Moore early in the third quarter put Niagara down by only one point, 32-31. A layup from Jordan Edwards tied things up, 35-35. Howard, however, began to pull away from the Purple Eagles and had a 46-37 lead at the end of the third quarter.
  • Moore sank two straight treys to kick off the fourth quarter, which left the Purple Eagles trailing by only three points, 46-43. A late 3-pointer from McIntyre put NU down by only seven, 64-57, but the Purple Eagles could not overcome Howard's lead and fell to the Bison, 68-61.

Inside the Numbers
  • Moore led all scorers with 23 points. She also added five rebounds. Moore has scored in double figures in six out of seven games this season.
  • Emerald Ekpiteta had a team-high eight rebounds and led the Purple Eagles in steals with three.
  • McIntyre added 10 points for the Purple Eagles. She has scored in double figures in five games so far this season.
  • Adila Gathers recorded seven rebounds and eight points.
