NIAGARA UNIV. N.Y. – Looking to continue their climb up the MAAC standings, the Niagara Purple Eagles are set to square off on the road against the Manhattan Jaspers on Oct. 6, with play set to get underway at 1 p.m.
 
Scene Setter
  • Niagara is coming off a 3-1 victory at home against Marist on Wednesday, giving the team a 5-1-0 mark at Niagara Field so far this season.
  • The Purple Eagles' 3-1-1 record through five conference games marks the program's best start in conference since 2015.
  • Niagara enters the contest with 10 points which is tied for second place with Quinnipiac and two points behind first place Monmouth
  • Going back to Oct. 6, Niagara has outscored opponents by an 11-5 margin, going 5-1-1 in that stretch.
 
Kickoff Tidbits
  • During Wednesday's win against Marist, Kelsey Araujo recorded her second goal off a penalty kick this season. She is the first Purple Eagle to record two goals off penalty kicks in a season since 2005.
  • Araujo is also second in the MAAC in both shots and shots per game, with 47 and 3.92, respectively.
  • Annie Ibey is currently tied with Rider's Valeria Pascuet for the most points in the conference (15), and is tied for second in goals with six. Her four game-winning goals also lead the conference.
  • Dating back to Sept. 9, Niagara is 4-0-0 when Shania van Nuland starts in goal.
  • The Purple Eagles rank third in the MAAC in shots per game (16.25), and are second in shutouts this season (five).

Manhattan Jaspers (2-5-1, 1-2-1 MAAC)
  • Manhattan was able to snap a five-game winless streak in their most recent game on Sept. 29, a 2-0 road win against Saint Peter's.
  • Senior goalkeeper Kelly DiGregorio currently ranks third in the MAAC in saves per game (5.5)
  • The Purple Eagles lead the Jaspers in the all-time series, 15-7-4. A Niagara win on Saturday would mark the first NU win at Manhattan since Oct. 2, 2011.
