NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – The Niagara women's soccer team closes out their three-game road trip this weekend as they visit Robert Morris on Friday, Sept. 1 at 4:00 p.m. and Akron on Sunday, Sept. 3 at 1:00 p.m.
On the Field: Niagara Purple Eagles (1-1-1)
- Niagara battled undefeated Binghamton to a 2-2 road draw after double overtime in their last time outing.
- Sophomore Hailey Bicknell gave Niagara a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute after fellow sophomore Kelsey Araujo slipped her a cross through multiple defenders. After allowing two goals within ten minutes, Araujo tied the game in the 83rd minute after banking a thru ball from redshirt-junior Courtney Betts off the post and in.
- Araujo and Bicknell lead the team in points (3; 1 g, 1 a) and join senior Eva Bachmann and freshman Bayley Sullivan as the team's top goal scorers thus far.
- Goalkeeping duties have been shared through the first three games between redshirt-sophomore Shania van Nuland and freshman Sabrina Locas. Van Nuland has logged 135 minutes in net for the Purple Eagles and has registered 12 saves and only allowed one goal. Locas has played 155 minutes and has compiled seven saves and has allowed three goals.
