Women's Basketball Drops Non-Conference Matchup At Hartford

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The Purple Eagles fell to the Hartford Hawks, 83-65, on Sunday.

Game Recap
  • The Purple Eagles went on an 8-2 run to open the first quarter, including five points from Rampado and a three from Stroemple. The Hawks quickly caught up, however, tying things up, 8-8. The Hawks led the Purple Eagles, 15-11, at the end of the first quarter.
  • A three from Jamie Sherburne with about six minutes left in the second quarter brought NU back within four points of Hartford, 20-16. Kharysma Bryant and Dagny Davidsdottir each added four points in the quarter but the Hawks held onto the lead and were ahead of Niagara 35-25 going into halftime.
  • Rampado opened scoring in the third quarter, sinking a 3-pointer with a little under nine and a half minutes to go, putting the score at 35-28 with the Hawks still in the lead. Rampado added four more points in the quarter and Stroemple also added four, but Hartford led 57-45 going into the final quarter of play.
  • Despite 10 more points from Rampado in the fourth quarter, the Purple Eagles could not overcome the Hawks' lead, falling to Hartford, 83-65.

Inside the Numbers
  • Rampado recorded her third double-double of the season with a team-leading 25 points and 13 rebounds. She also led the Purple Eagles in assists with six, tying her career-high.
  • Stroemple added 13 points for Niagara and Davidsdottir added a career-high 12 points.
  • Davidsdottir recorded a career-high four blocks and Rampado and Stroemple each had two.
