NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y.- Matt Scott finished with a game-high 23 points and team-high eight rebounds as the Niagara Purple Eagles defeated the College of Saint Rose Golden Knights, 90-69, on Saturday in their final exhibition game.
Game Summary
Niagara got off to a hot start to start the game with an 18-0 run led by
Matt Scott who had 12 points in that stretch. The Purple Eagles forced four Golden Knight turnovers in under five minutes, a trend that would continue throughout the first half. Saint Rose coughed up 14 turnovers in the first half, which Niagara converted into 18 points. The Purple Eagles went into halftime leading 52-29, their largest lead of the half. Niagara made 18 of 31 shots from the field, including shooting 61 percent (8-for-13) from the 3-point line.
In the second half, the Purple Eagles added to their lead which ballooned to as much as 27 points.
Niagara made six three-pointers in the second half, as the Purple Eagles finished the game shooting 51.9% from beyond the arc. 10 of the 12 Purple Eagles finished with points on the board, helping Niagara cruised to the victory.
Eagle's Eye On…
- Matt Scott led the game in scoring with 23 points and had a team-high eight rebounds to go along with four assists. Scott averaged team-highs in scoring (22.5 ppg), rebounds (7.5 rpg) and steals (2.5 spg) in both exhibitions.
- Kahlil Dukes had a team-best six assists in addition to his eight points.
- Marvin Prochet added 15 points, four rebounds and two steals to the game.
- Keleaf Tate had eight points and four rebounds against the Golden Knights.
- Dominik Fragala recorded eight points, including a perfect game at the free-throw line (5-for-5)
- Greg Kuakumensah finished with eight points and went perfect in the field (3-for-3) and free-throw line (2-for-2).
- James Towns recorded seven points and four assists.
