NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – The Niagara men's and women's swimming and diving teams head to Colgate for a dual meet starting at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 5.
Last Time Out
- The swimming and diving teams faced Fredonia to open the season on Oct. 21, followed by a dual meet with Binghamton for the men on Oct. 22 and a double dual meet for the women with Binghamton and Siena on Oct. 22. The men defeated Fredonia, 120-11, and the women beat Fredonia, 120-70. Both teams fell to Binghamton and the women defeated Siena, 195-99.
- Against Fredonia, the Purple Eagles boasted multiple double winners. Nick Rogers took first in the 50 free with a time of 22.09 and placed first in the 100 free with a time of 47.90. Freshman Kaden Jesperson had a strong debut for Niagara, winning the 200 IM (1:57.63) and the 100 back (55.88). On the women's side, Nastassja Posso placed first in the 200 free (1:58.46) and the 500 free (5:22.52). Freshman Hayley Tasselmyer took first in the 100 free with a time of 54.34 and placed first in the 100 breast with a time of 1:09.22. Cara Mergner was also a double winner, placing first in the 1-meter dive (192.10) and the 3-meter dive (188.90).
- Against Binghamton, Jesperson was a double winner for the second straight meet, taking first in the 400 IM with a time of 4:15.80 and the 200 back with a time of 1:58.36.
- Mergner was a double winner against Binghamton and Siena with her best scores of the season in the 1-meter dive (195.20) and the 3-meter dive (201.80).
Last Meeting with Colgate
- The Purple Eagles and the Raiders last met on Nov. 6, 2016. The men defeated Colgate, 157-78, and the women fell to the Raiders, 139-97.
- Alexander Pizzo was a double winner, placing first in the 500 free with a time of 4:51.20 and in the 200 free with a time of 1:46.09.
- Julia Casolo earned a victory in the 100 butterfly with a time of 58.32 and Kristen Suarez won the 50 free with a time of 25.15.
