Purple Eagles Host Big 4 Rival Buffalo Wednesday Night

The Niagara Purple Eagles close out their four-game homestand against Big 4 rival Buffalo on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
 
Scene Setter
•  After opening the season with four straight road games, Niagara is in a midst of four home games in six days.
•  Niagara has won two of three home games to start the season for the first time since the 2012-13 season (won nine of first 10 games).
•  The Purple Eagles are 33-22 in their last 55 Big 4 matchups, including winning their last three Big 4 meetings - Canisius (twice) and St. Bonaventure.
•  Niagara is looking to beat St. Bonaventure and Buffalo in the same season for the first time in nine years. 
•  The Purple Eagles are also in search of beating two Big 4 teams in the same season since 2010-11 (St. Bonaventure and Canisius).
 
Tipoff Tidbits
•  Matt Scott was named MAAC Player of the Week for the third time in his career announced on November 27.
•  Matt Scott, who is SIXTH in the nation in scoring, led all scorers with a career-high 36 points at BYU. The 36 points are the most points by a Purple Eagle since Antoine Mason's 38 points against Marist on March 6, 2014.
•  Matt Scott is 18th on the career scoring list and is six points away from tying David Brooks ('05) for 17th.
•  Kahlil Dukes leads the MAAC and is 13th in the nation with 24 total 3-pointers. He made a season-high six 3-pointers in the season opener at St. Bonaventure.
•  Kahlil Dukes is FOURTH in the NCAA in free throw percentage (.910) among active career leaders and is second in the conference in free throw percentage this season (.909).
•  Dominic Robb is seventh on the career blocks list (111), and is two behind Benson Egemonye for sixth place.
•  Double Trouble: Matt Scott and Marvin Prochet each recorded double-doubles in the same game (Minnesota and Army).
•  Niagara leads the MAAC in free throw percentage (.768), free throws made (116), and 3-point field goal percentage (.369).
 
It Takes Two
•  Matt Scott (25.1) and Kahlil Dukes (20.0) are the top scoring pair in the nation. Scott and Dukes are first and second, respectively, in scoring in the MAAC through seven games. The duo is accounting for 56 percent of Niagara's scoring.
•  In the MAAC, the pair ranks in the top two in field goals made and attempted, and the top four in free throws made. 
•  Scott and Dukes are tied for the top spot in the MAAC with five 20-point games.
 
On The Court
Buffalo Bulls (3-2, 0-0 Mid-American)
•  Buffalo was picked second overall in the 2017-18 MAC Poll and first in the East Division. 
•  Juniors Nick Perkins and CJ Massinburg were named to the All-MAC East Division Preseason Team.
•  The Bulls are 3-2 on the season and recently played in the Cayman Classic Tournament where they went 1-2. CJ Massinburg was named to the all-tournament team.
•  Five Bulls are averaging double figures - CJ Massinburg (17.6 ppg), Nick Perkins (17.4), Jeremy Harris (13.0 ppg), Davonta Jordan (11.2) and Dontay Caruthers (10.8 ppg).
•  Buffalo is currently second in the MAC in scoring with an average of 80.8 points per game.

•  Niagara and Buffalo have met 88 times with the Purple Eagles winning nearly 64
percent of the meetings.
