- This is the first all-time meeting between the Purple Eagles and both the Ragin' Cajuns and the Lady Techsters.
- This is the first in-season tournament Niagara has participated in since the 2011-12 season when the team competed in the Winthrop Classic in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The Purple Eagles played three games, falling to Stetson, Winthrop and Bradley.

- The Ragin' Cajuns are led by guard/forward Skyler Goodwin, who is averaging 13.0 points per game off the bench.
- Guard Kendra Howard and forward Simone Fields average 8.5 points per game and 8.8 points per game, respectively, and Fields leads the team in rebounding with 6.0 rebounds per game.

- The Lady Techsters competed in the WNIT following the 2016-17 season. Lousiana Tech fell to Southern Methodist University in overtime in the first round.
