Game Recap
  • Early in the first half, a foul in the Niagara box gave the Stags an opportunity to strike early on a penalty kick. Fairfield's leading scorer Ben Wignall lined up the shot and beat Joel Gerberich to open the scoring.
  • Zulfikar Karimi had a chance off a corner set-up from Danilo Pekovic just two minutes later, but had his shot blocked.
  • Gerberich came up with a stop on Wignall's second shot on goal of the game just past the 31-minute mark, helping to keep it a one-goal game at the half.
  • Pekovic set up another Niagara chance off a set piece in the 62nd minute, with Borna Juracic threatening on a header shot that missed the net wide.
  • In the 88th minute, Niagara was finally able to break through. Pekovic lined up a free kick from the 25 yards out to the right of the box. Owen Carter got a head on the ball and flicked over to Konrad Zydowicz, who hammered his shot home far-post for the equalizing goal.
  • In the overtime period, Gerberich made one stop against Fairfield's Eirik Anderson but the next shot found the back of the net. In the 97th minute Matt McGlinchey wound up for Fairfield and sent a low shot for the far post. Gerberich got a hand on the shot, but could not keep it from crossing the goal line, sending Niagara to a 2-1 loss.

Coach's Corner
  • Head coach Bill Boyle: "I'm happy for our seniors who really stepped it up in our Senior Night game. Konrad is now our leading scorer as a back, Joel made a huge save early in OT to keep us in the game, and Omar and Sergio gave us quality minutes. We don't give up, and that's a quality that we can build on."
