- "We battled a really good Drexel team tonight," said Niagara head coach Jada Pierce. "I felt we had some chances to get over the hump, but fell short. We can definitely learn a lot from this game. I'm very proud of the effort shown tonight."
Game Recap
- The Purple Eagles and Dragons went back and forth on offense in the first quarter of the game. A three from Maggie McIntyre tied the score, 10-10, with a little over three minutes remaining in the quarter.
- With one second left in the first, Rampado scored two points to put Niagara ahead of Drexel, 14-12.
- The Dragons came back in the second quarter, taking a 23-16 lead but Sherburne scored five straight points to bring Niagara within one points of Drexel, 23-22.
- Rampado made another bucket with a little under a minute remaining in the first half of the game and, going into halftime, the Purple Eagles narrowly trailed the Dragons, 30-24.
- Two consecutive buckets from Rampado to open the third quarter put the score at 30-28, with Drexel still in the lead.
- The Purple Eagles again came within two points of the Dragons, 33-31, after Tiffany Corselli sank a three with a little over seven and a half minutes remaining in the third.
- Two points from Jai Moore to end the quarter left Niagara trailing 48-40 going into the final quarter of play.
- Corselli hit another 3-pointer with a little under nine minutes remaining in the game and Jamie Sherburne sank a 3-point shot with under five minutes remaining to put the Purple Eagles within five points of the Dragons, 57-52.
- With about a minute and a half remaining in the game, Rampado scored two and was fouled in the process; she converted the 3-point play to bring the score to 60-57, with Drexel narrowly ahead.
Inside the Numbers
- Rampado led the Purple Eagles in scoring with a season-high 25 points. She also led the team in rebounding, bringing down a season-high 12 rebounds and recording her second double-double of the season.
- Corselli, who added 10 points for Niagara, led the Purple Eagles in assists with five.
- Dagny Davidsdottir had a team-high two blocks, her career-high.
- Sherburne's 11 points, a season-high, are one short of her career-high.
