BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Niagara women's basketball team dropped a tough fought game to Big 4 rival Buffalo on Wednesday night.

- "I couldn't have been more proud of this group and their effort," said Niagara head coach Jada Pierce. "When we were down, they wanted to gut this thing out. They did everything that they could, but we tip our cap to Buffalo; they were better today."
Game Recap
- The Purple Eagles started off strong in the first quarter; Buffalo turned the ball over directly into the arms of Rampado. Morgan Baughman then sank a three about 30 seconds into the game to give Niagara the early lead.
- Rampado scored seven straight points for the Purple Eagles, but they trailed the Bulls 10-13.
- Baughman hit another 3-pointer with about two minutes left in the quarter, but the Bulls remained in the lead to end the quarter, 24-15.
- The Purple Eagles made a comeback in the second quarter. With about six and a half minutes left, Corselli made a three to leave Niagara trailing by only six points, 31-25.
- Baughman hit her third three of the game with a little over a minute left to put the score at 37-35 and start the Purple Eagles on a 16-0 run that would continue into the third quarter. Corselli then stole the Bulls' inbound pass, making a layup to knot the score at 37-37 going into the half.
- The Purple Eagles opened the third quarter strong, quickly taking a 43-37 lead. However, with a little over four minutes remaining in the quarter, Buffalo came back to tie the score, 43-43.
- Corselli scored two to put the Purple Eagles back on top, but the Bulls once again came back and tied the score. Kharysma Bryant sank a free throw to give Niagara a one-point lead, 46-45. Buffalo once again came back and ended the third quarter with a 55-49 lead.
- In the fourth quarter, Kaylee Stroemple hit a three as the shot clock expired with a little over four minutes remaining in the game to put the Purple Eagles within six points of the Bulls' 63-57 lead.
- Four straight points from Rampado put the Purple Eagles within four points of Buffalo, 66-62, with under two minutes remaining.
Inside the Numbers
- Rampado led all scorers in the first half of the game with 15 points. She led the Purple Eagles with 22 points overall. Rampado also had a team-high nine rebounds.
- Corselli had a team-best three steals and also added 15 points.
- Stroemple added 13 points and three rebounds and Baughman set a career-high with 11 points.
