Women’s Soccer Welcomes Siena Wednesday

The Purple Eagles (4-3-2; 2-0-0) continue Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference competition when they play host to the Siena Saints on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 4 p.m.
 
Last Time Out 
  • The Purple Eagles defeated the Iona Gaels, 4-3, at Niagara Field on Sept. 26.
  • Emily Phillips opened the scoring for the second consecutive game with an 18th minute finish.
  • Haillie Price added goals in the 18th and 32nd minute to extend the lead to 3-0.
  • NU's Hayley Besaw's goal in the 60th minute pushed to lead to 4-0 and proved to be the game winner.
  • Iona recorded goals in the 66th, 73rd and 86th minutes to cut the lead to one, but Niagara would hold from there.
  • Six different Purple Eagles contributed points on the day.

  • Senior goalkeeper Claire Feiertag is fifth in the conference in goals against average (1.38), fifth in save percentage (.759) and fourth in total saves (41). She is also sixth in saves per game (5.00) and is tied for fifth in shutouts (two).
  • As a team, Niagara is second in the conference with an average of 15.56 shots per game.
Across the Pitch: Siena Saints (5-3-2, 1-1-0 MAAC)
  • The all-time record between Niagara and Siena is dead even at 11-11-4.
  • The most recent result followed the incredibly tight story line with a double-overtime 0-0 draw on Oct. 8, 2014.
  • Siena leads the MAAC with 2.50 assists per game and is third with 1.90 goals per game.
  • The Saints are seeking their second road win of the season and first MAAC road win of the season.
  • Siena opened its MAAC campaign with a 7-0 home win against Saint Peter's on Sept. 19 and followed that with 1-0 away loss to Manhattan on Sept. 26.
