Dukes Rally Past Men's Soccer

NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – The Niagara Purple Eagles fell to the Duquesne Dukes, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon.

Niagara's first goal of the season came in the 14th minute, as Sergio Lujan flicked a beautiful header to the far post and into the back of the net on the cross from Brennan Koslow.

Duquesne got the equalizer in the 18th minute after Collin Phillips capitalized on a loose ball near the penalty spot. Phillips, then, put the Dukes ahead in the 57th minute on a free kick that Niagara keeper Joel Gerberich got a hand on it, but the ball then deflected off the post and into the net.

Duquesne added an insurance goal in the 68th minute on a pass from Noah Mehta into the box, where Diego Vieira was waiting to bury it for the Dukes' third tally of the contest.

Niagara (0-2-0) is back on the pitch on Friday, Sept. 4 when they head to East Lansing, Michigan to take on the Michigan State Spartans at 5 p.m.
