Men's Soccer Falls to No. 22 Michigan State

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Niagara Purple Eagles dropped their first road opener with a 4-0 loss to the No. 22 Michigan State Spartans on Friday afternoon.
 
Freshman goalkeeper Colin Hanley made his collegiate debut for NU, allowing a pair of MSU goals in each half. He made six saves on 10 shots before being replaced by Joel Gerberich in the 81st minute.
 
The Spartans started the scoring early, as Ken Krolicki buried one in the 13th minute after a thru ball slipped past the Niagara keeper. MSU added another tally just before halftime on a strike by Jerome Cristobal from 15 yards out.
 
Michigan State added its third goal following a penalty kick from Jason Stacy in the 59th minute. The fourth and final goal came from Blake Skamiera on a shot up close in the 77th minute.  
 
Ryan Myers recorded the lone shot on goal for the Purple Eagles.
 
Niagara (0-3-0) returns to the pitch on Sunday with a match in Ann Arbor, Michigan against the Michigan Wolverines at 4 p.m.
