Valiant In Defeat- Niagara opened the season with a narrow 2-0 defeat to the Michigan State Spartans on August 21 at Niagara Field.
- The match was scoreless until MSU scored two goals in three minutes early in the second half.
- Three Purple Eagles had three players registered shots on goal including Amelia Gulley whose 6th minute volley nearly put Niagara ahead.
- It was the first-ever meeting between the programs.

- Last season, NU set a program record with a 9-1-1 home mark, including going 6-0-0 in MAAC matches
