The Purple Eagles hockey goes on its final road weekend of the season when it heads to Erie, Pennsylvania for two games against the Mercyhurst Lakers.

History 101
  • With 19 matchups already in the books, this weekend's games will be meetings 20 and 21 in the all-time series.
  • The Lakers are the last team in the conference the Purple Eagles have yet to face.
  • Niagara holds a 11-6-2 lead in the all-time series.
  • The teams have alternated success in the last two seasons. Niagara swept the season series, going 3-0 in 2012-13, before going 0-2-1 against the Lakers last season.

Last Time Out
  • For the second consecutive night Niagara was able to fight back from two goals down against Mercyhurst, but were unable to pocket a point as the Lakers came out with a 4-2 victory on Feb. 22, 2014 at Dwyer Arena.
  • Down 2-1 with just under 10 minutes remaining in regulation, Dan Kolenda and Patrick Conte combined to knot the game at two apiece.  Conte backhanded a pass from behind the cage to the waiting Kolenda who jammed it home for his second of the season.
  • The stalemate lasted until the final minutes of regulation as Mercyhurst answered with the game's final two goals to take a 4-2 win.

Against The Lakers
  • Only one Purple Eagle notched a career milestone against Mercyhurst. Dan Kolenda collected his first career point with an assist on Oct. 13, 2012 in a 2-1 win.

Number 100
  • Senior Sam Alfieri sits at 99 games played after taking the ice in both games against RIT.
  • He collected two points with a pair of assists in game number 99, which is one shy of his career record of three, set in a 4-2 win over Canisius on Feb. 8, 2014.

Putting Goals On The Board
  • Niagara's four goals against RIT on Feb. 7 was the most goals the team has scored in a game since a 6-4 loss to Canisius on Jan. 24.
  • It was also the third time this year it tallied more than three goals in a game. The first time came in the 6-1 win over Army on Nov. 22.
