Purple Eagles Look for First Conference Win at Monmouth

Last Time Out

•  The Purple Eagles were defeated by the Manhattan College Jaspers, 80-62, on Dec. 4 in their conference opener.
•  Tiffany Corselli led the team in scoring with 16 points. Corselli made three of five attempted 3-point field goals, giving her a 3-point field goal percentage of 60.0.
•  Sam Lapszynski scored in double-digits for her third straight game; she had 14 points and a team-high nine rebounds, as well as a team-high two blocks.
•  Kaylee Stroemple led the Purple Eagles with a career-best four steals.

•  Sam Lapszynski was named MAAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week coming off her best career games against Cleveland State on Nov. 27 and Detroit on Nov. 29.
•  Against Cleveland State, Lapszynski had the first double-double of her career; she had a career-high 24 points and 11 rebounds. She also had a career-best three blocks.
•  At Detroit, Lapszynski surpassed her performance against Celeveland State and scored a new career-high of 27 points.
•  Lapszynski led the Purple Eagles in scoring in both matchups and led the team in rebounds against Cleveland State.
•  Lapsynski scored in double-digits against Manhattan on Dec. 4; she had 14 points and led the team in rebounds with nine.
•  Lapszynski ranks 2nd in the MAAC in field goal percentage (53.7).
 
Last Match-Up With Monmouth
•  The Purple Eagles and the Hawks last met on Feb. 20, 2015 at Niagara University.
•  Monmouth defeated Niagara 81-69.
•  Taylor McKay led the Purple Eagles in scoring with 19 points. She also added six rebounds and three steals.
•  Victoria Rampado was also one of Niagara's top performers; she had 17 points, eight rebounds and three steals.
•  Helena Kurt led the Hawks with 21 points. She also had four assists.
•  Christina Mitcehll led the Hawks in rebounding with 10 rebounds. She also added 13 points, four blocks and two steals.
 
Niagara in the MAAC
•  The Purple Eagles currently rank 4th in the MAAC in scoring offense; they average 62.7 points per game.
•  Niagara ranks 2nd in field goal percentage (40.1).
•  The Purple Eagles are averaging 16.3 assists per game, ranking them 2nd in the MAAC.
•  Niagara ranks 5th in steals, with an average of 8.2 per game.
•  Kaylee Stroemple ranks 4th in assists, with 24 on the season so far and an average of 4.0 assists per game. She also ranks 6th in free-throw percentage, making 17 of 21 attempted free-throws for a percentage of .810.
•  Tiffany Corselli ranks 8th in the MAAC in 3-point field goals made; she has made  11 so far this season.
•  Sam Lapszynski is tied for 5th in blocked shots, averaging 1.7 per game.
 
Scouting the Hawks
•  Monmouth returns 10 letter-winners from last year, including four starters.
•  McKinzee Barker was named MAAC Rookie of the Week on Nov. 23. Barker had 14 points, nine rebounds and nine assists in the Hawks' overtime win at Colgate on Nov. 22. She also had had six points and nine rebounds against Robert Morris on Nov. 19.
•  Jamiyah Bethune leads the Hawks in scoring (13.8 points per game) and in field goal percentage (41.2).
•  Christina Mitchell leads the team in both rebounds (54 total, 10.8 per game) and blocked shots (9 total, 1.8 per game).
•  Sarah Olson was a Preseason All-MAAC Third Team selection going into the 2015-16 season. This season, she is currently averaging 10.4 points per game, 4.0 rebounds per game and 1.4 steals per game.
