The Purple Eagles (10-14, 7-7 MAAC) wrap up their five-match road trip and their road slate for the season this weekend against Marist on Nov. 7 at 6 p.m. and Siena on Nov. 8 at 1 p.m.
Last Time Out- The Purple Eagles have won three of their last four matches.
- Niagara split its matches last weekend, defeating Quinnipiac for its third straight win before falling to Fairfield in four sets.Â
McGwin Named MAAC Player Of The Week- Middle blocker Melissa McGwin was named MAAC Volleyball Player of the Week on Tuesday.
- McGwin led the Purple Eagles in kills with 4.17 per set and in points with 5.17 per set while averaging 1.3 blocks per set to help Niagara to a 2-1 week.
- In the four-set win at Canisius, McGwin led the match with a career-high 20 kills and a career-high .514 hitting percentage, the highest by a Purple Eagle this season, to go along with one block and four block assists.
- McGwin had a team-high 13 kills and six total blocks in Niagara's four-set win at Quinnipiac on Saturday. McGwin finished the three-match week by leading the Purple Eagles in kills for the third straight match with 17 kills and added five blocks at Fairfield on Sunday.
- McGwin is the first Purple Eagle to win the player of the week award since Amanda Sedore on Nov. 5, 2013.
Purple Points - Rylee Hunt averages 5.11 digs per set, which is first in the MAAC and ranks her 20th nationally
- Alexis Gray averages 0.48 service aces per set, which is second best in the MAAC and ranks her 13th nationally.
- Niagara as a team ranks third in the MAAC and 25th in the nation with an aces per set average of 1.61, behind Manhattan (2.02) which leads the nation.
Record Watch- Melissa McGwin is currently fourth all-time in solo blocks at 74 for her career, six behind Jessica Anderson (1992-'95) for third place.
- McGwin also has 180 block assists for her career, currently fifth best and four behind Kelly Cruttenden (1994-'97) for fourth.
- Alexis Gray has 41 services aces on the season, which ties her for 8th, with Laurie Haefner ('98) and Tammy Greek ('93).
Across The Net: Marist Red Foxes (17-8, 10-4 MAAC)Â - Niagara is 23-11 all-time against Marist, including falling in four sets on Oct. 4.
- Marist is second in the nation and third in the MAAC with 1.97 aces per set average.
- The Red Foxes rank first in the MAAC in hitting percentage (.221) and kills per set (13.32)
- Lexi Millington has a 0.49 aces per set average the mark good enough for first in the MAAC, and has her in the top ten nationally.
