NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – A strong serving game powered the Purple Eagles to a 25-10, 25-18, 25-11 win over the Saint Peter's Peacocks on Saturday.

"The team played a well-rounded match, both offensively and defensively," head coach Vilis Ozols said. "Alexis (Gray) had a spectacular serving match to break the single-season aces record. The team's energy and intensity were a big factor in the victory."

NU (11-16, 8-9 MAAC) had one of its best serving matches in program history, finishing with 20 aces which are the second most in program history.  Five Purple Eagles had it at least one ace, led by Gray who had seven in the match en route to setting the single-season record with 55 aces surpassing Amy Gabel's 53 aces set in 1991.

Gray also led the match with 21 assists and had seven digs. Rayenne Hale had match-highs in kills with 13 and with eight digs. Melissa McGwin chipped in seven kills.

The Purple Eagles only trailed once in the entire three sets on their way to sweeping Saint Peter's (4-23, 2-15 MAAC) for the second straight season.
