Volleyball Visits Rival Canisius Wednesday

The Purple Eagles (8-13, 5-6 MAAC) start a five-match road slate as they travel to Canisius on Wednesday to face the Golden Griffins at 7 p.m.

Last Time Out
·         Niagara is coming off a 1-1 home stand against Iona and Manhattan this past weekend.
·         Nicole Matheis and Alexis Grey set career-highs in kills (Matheis, 25) and assists (Grey,56) in the five-set win over Iona on Sunday.
·         Matheis' 25 kills are the most in the MAAC this season.
·         Rylee Hunt finished two digs shy of a program record with 42, which is also the most by a player in the MAAC this season.
·         Niagara tied a season-high 12 aces against Iona.

Purple Points
·         Rylee Hunt averages 4.95 digs per set, which is first in the MAAC and ranks her 25th nationally
·         Alexis Gray has an assist per set average of 8.89 which is tied third in the conference. She is also ranked 43rd nationally in serving aces per set with .46.
·         Niagara as a team ranks fourth in the MAAC in total attacks per set with 37.13, it is also good enough for 34th in the nation. 
·         Melissa McGwin is fourth on the career solo blocks list with 72.
 
Battle of the Bridge
·         The Battle of the Bridge is the all-sports competition between cross-town rivals Niagara University and Canisius College, with points being awarded to the winning school of each meeting.
·         Niagara currently leads the 2015-16 edition of the Battle of the Bridge 3-2, with points coming from volleyball and women's soccer.
·         The winner of Wednesday's match receives one point.
 
Across The Net: Canisius Golden Griffins (8-15, 6-5 MAAC) 
·         Niagara is 32-32 all-time against the Golden griffins, including a sweep at home on Oct. 10.
·         The Purple Eagles have won eight of their last 11 meetings in the series and five of the last six at Canisius.
·         Canisius went 2-0 this past weekend, with wins over Manhattan and Iona
·         Leaders: kills per set – Katlyn Tyler (3.72), assists per set – Grace Streicher (8.28), blocks per set – Lauren Siebert (.72)
