Broncs Blank Purple Eagles

NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – The Niagara Purple Eagles were defeated by the Rider Broncs, 2-0, on Wednesday at Niagara Field.

Rider (8-4-1, 3-2-1 MAAC) scored a goal in each half to upend the Purple Eagles (1-10-3, 0-4-1 MAAC). The Broncs scored their first goal in the sixth minute. Adrien Huss sent in a corner kick into the box to Jose Aguinaga, who then played a ball to Sonimi Halliday who header floated past the keeper far post.

NU had the better of possession in the remaining of the half while outshooting the Broncs 6-3, but was unable to score. The Broncs made it 2-0 in the 62nd minute on a counter attack with Elliot Otmani placing his shot in the top corner of the net.

Niagara nearly got on the scoreboard in the 87th minute, but Sergio Lujan and Brandon Galanti each had point-black shots saved by Ryan Baird.

Niagara returns to Niagara Field to host Saint Peter's on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 1 p.m.
