NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – Niagara men's basketball head coach Chris Casey recently announced the addition of the three newest Purple Eagles to the program in
Julian Richardson,
James Suber and
Anders Skou Hansen.
Julian Richardson | 6-foot-3 | 180 | Guard | Woodland Hills, Calif. | El Camino Real High SchoolRichardson, labelled as one of the top available shooting guards in southern California, will bring his shooting prowess to Niagara. Richardson played at El Camino Real High School in Woodland Hills, Calif. As a senior, Richardson helped the Conquistadors to a 25-7 overall record and an unblemished 10-0 league record en route to claiming the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Los Angeles City Championship and advancing to the CIF State Playoffs.
Richardson, who averaged 20 points per game, was named to the 2013-14 California All-State honorable mention team, the Los Angeles City Section All-City Team and the Los Angeles Daily News All-Area Team.
Richardson, the son of former NBA guard Pooh Richardson, had offers from Villanova, Fresno State, San Francisco, Long Beach State and Minnesota heading into his senior season.
"Julian played on very successful high school and AAU programs and was a major contributor," Casey said. "He put up very efficient offensive number with his shooting prowess and we expect him to do the same at Niagara. He has high basketball IQ and is very adept at passing the ball and involving his teammates."
James Suber | 6-foot-6 | 210 | Forward | Philadelphia, Pa. | Philadelphia Electrical & TechnologySuber brings added athleticism to the front court with his 6-foot-6 frame. He averaged 11.5 points per game during his senior season at Philadelphia Electrical & Technology as he helped the Chargers advance to the Philadelphia Public School and Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Class AAA semifinals.
Suber was named to the Daily News All-City Third Team and All-Public Second Team at the end of the season. Suber chose Niagara over Maryland-Eastern Shore, Elon, LIU Brooklyn, Hartford and Farleigh Dickinson.
"James will be an immediate help in our front court," Casey said. "We expect him to improve our rebounding and defense with his versatility. He has a high ceiling offensively and his skill level will continue to grow."
Anders Skou Hansen | 6-foot-3 | 180 | Guard | Broendby, Denmark | Hoersholm 79ersSkou Hansen brings international competition to Monteagle Ridge. He played the last two seasons as a member of the Hoersholm 79ers in his hometown of Broendby, Denmark where he averaged 4.2 points per game, 1.9 rebounds per game and 1.9 assists per game in 53 league games from 2012-14.
Skou Hansen represented Denmark in the Eurobasket Under-18 Tournament in 2012. He averaged 2.6 points per game, 1.4 rebounds per game and 1.9 assists per game in seven appearances. He also represented Denmark in the Eurobasket Under-18 B Division Tournament in 2011.
"Anders is a big guard who can play on and off the ball," Casey stated. "We expect him to improve our ball handling and passing. His national team experience will be valuable with our very young team."
