Box Score NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – An early first-half goal from senior
Danielle Kennedy was enough to secure the Niagara women's soccer team a 1-0 victory against top conference contender Fairfield on Saturday at Niagara Field.
The Purple Eagles wasted no time in creating an opportunity for themselves in the first stanza as Kennedy pocketed goal number two of the season in the 7th minute. Senior
Maureen Papaconstantinou served a feed to Kennedy inside the box who drilled a shot past Fairfield goalie.

Claire Feiertag stopped one Fairfield shot for her fifth shutout this season, while her counterpart Kathleen Early stopped two NU attempts on net.
The victory pushes the Purple Eagles to 9-2-5 on the season and 5-1-3 in conference play as head coach
Peter Veltri notched his 150
th career win at Niagara. The defeat dropped the Stags to 13-4-1 overall and 7-2 in the MAAC.
In the second half, the physical play began to pick up as both squads traded fouls. Ashley Small was called for a yellow card in the 57
th minute while Fairfield collect a team yellow card in the 63
rd minute. The teams totaled 18 fouls over 90 minutes of play with the Stags holding a 12-6 advantage.
With under 15 minutes remaining in the contest, the Stags' had several potential game-tying shots on their foot including a shot from Small that ended up going wide left.
Niagara launched six total shots in the game putting three of them on goal while Fairfield had one of their seven shots on frame. The Purple Eagles held a 6-5 advantage in corner kick opportunities.

The Purple Eagles will finish the regular season at home against the Red Foxes of Marist on Wednesday, Oct. 29. The contest is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start.
