Volleyball Opens Home Schedule Against Siena, Marist

After 13 consecutive matches away from home to start the season, the Niagara Purple Eagles will play their first matches at the Gallagher Center against Siena on Saturday and Marist on Sunday at 1 p.m. each day.

Off the Snide
• Niagara defeated Delaware State, 3-1, on Monday to earn its first victory of the season
• Freshman Alex Stone led Niagara in kills with a career-high 14 and in hitting percentage with .440.

MAAC Dominance
• Since 2009, the Purple Eagles are 60-14 in conference regular season matches and have won two regular season titles and three conference titles
• NU's record during this period is the best in the MAAC with Fairfield in second with a 58-16 record
• Niagara is 32-4 in MAAC home games since 2009.
Stone Cutter
• Alex Stone has been playing well as of late. She was named to the Bulldog Invitational All-Tournament team on Sept. 14.
• In her last three matches, she leads the team in hitting percentage (.273) and is second in kills (2.25) and points (32)
• Her career-high day against Delaware State propelled Niagara to its first win of the season.

Across the Net: Siena Saints (4-9, 3-0 MAAC)
• Siena sits in first place in the MAAC with a 3-0 record with wins over Iona, Manhattan and Fairfield.
• Leaders: kills per set – Taylor Akana (2.68), assists per set – Haley Howell (8.23), digs per set – Bobbi Lin Kalama (3.29), blocks per set – Jacqueline Skeen (.93)
• Niagara and Siena have split the regular season series the last four seasons. The Purple Eagles rallied from a two-set deficit to win in five sets in the last meeting between teams.

Across the Net: Marist Red Foxes (7-5, 1-1 MAAC)
• Marist split its opening conference weekend. The Red Foxes are second in the MAAC in hitting percentage, opponent hitting percentage, kills and assists.
• Three players are leading the conference individual categories – Audra Brady (assists), Lexi Millington (aces), Brooke Zywick (digs)
• Leaders: kills per set – Mackenzie Stephens (3.31), assists per set – Audra Brady (10.98), digs per set – Brooke Zywick (5.07), blocks per set – Mackenzie Stephens (.86)
• The Purple Eagles have won nine straight against Marist, including the 2009 MAAC Championship match.
