Purple Eagles 101
The Purple Eagles come into the weekend have won their first game of the season against Buffalo, 2-1.
Breanna Catipovic leads the team with five goals this season, while
Haillie Price has pocketed five points off two goals and an assist.
Kori Thorne and
Hayley Besaw have each registered a pair of assists.
Claire Feiertag has played a majority of time in goal for NU, posting a 1.96 goals-against average and a .717 save percentage.
Last Time Out
Catipovic scored two goals against the Bulls, while
Catherine Meyer and Besaw contributed assists. Feiertag made a season-high eight saves en route to the victory, tying her career-best achieved three times last year.
Scouting the Hawks
Monmouth recently suffered its first loss of the season against Hofstra after riding a five-game winning streak, but bounced by with a 1-0 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson to improve to 6-1 on the season.
Alexis McTomeny leads Monmouth with five goals and 11 points this season. Dana Costello is not far behind with a pair of goals and a team-high five assists for nine points. Ashley Lewis has started all seven games for the Hawks, posting a 6-1-0 record with a 0.57 goals against average.
All-Time Against Monmouth
Niagara has not defeated Monmouth since earning a 6-4 victory in during the 1986 season in the teams' first meeting. The Hawks are now 6-1-0 all-time against the Purple Eagles, dropping NU 8-1 in 1997 when the programs last met.
What's Ahead for the Purps
Conference play continues next weekend when Niagara takes to the field against Marist in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. on Sept. 25 before returning home on Sept. 28 to host Manhattan.
