Purple Eagles Drop Straight-Sets Decision To Manhattan

RIVERDALE., N.Y. – The Niagara volleyball team was defeated by the Manhattan Jaspers in straight sets, 25-16, 25-17, 25-17, on Sunday.

With the loss, the Purple Eagles drop to 3-22 on the year, and 2-12 in MAAC play, while the Jaspers improve to 18-10 overall, and 11-3 in the conference. Niagara was led by Amanda Sedore's 11 kills this afternoon, while Allison Reis and Tara Topolski each shared team-high honors with 12 digs.  

Manhattan (18-10, 11-3 MAAC) benefited from fast starts in the first and second sets as the Purple Eagles were unable to comeback from. The Jaspers led 22-12 in the opening set and 16-9 in the second set. In the must win third set, Niagara again fell behind early and trailed 22-12 before falling 25-17 to the match.

The Purple Eagles conclude their road schedule next weekend with matches at Marist and Siena.
