Volleyball Falls To Siena In Straight Sets

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – The Niagara volleyball team was defeated by the Siena Saints, 25-15, 25-22, 25-20, on Sunday to conclude its road schedule.

Niagara (3-24, 2-14 MAAC) was led by in kills by Amanda Sedore who had 11 to record double-digit kills for the 15th time this season.  Logan Rae notched 21 assists in the match to have at least 20 assists in 13 of the 14 matches she has played as the setter.

In the opening set, Niagara led 3-1 before Siena (12-14, 11-5 MAAC) stormed ahead to lead 21-11 en route to a 25-15 first set win. In the second set, the Purple Eagles trailed 20-12, but the cut the lead the lead to 24-22 on an attacking error by the Saints' Taylor Akana. She would atone for her error with a kill on the next play. There were eight ties and three lead changes in the third set. Niagara led 13-9, but the Saints surged ahead to take a 21-16 as they went on to win the set 25-20.

The Purple Eagles close out their schedule next weekend with home matches against Fairfield and Quinnipiac.
