Volleyball Drops Final Match At Bobcat Invitational

ATHENS, OHIO – The Niagara Purple Eagles were swept by the Belmont Bruins in their final match at the Bobcat Invitational on Saturday.

Niagara (3-6) struggled on offense throughout the match, hitting only .029. The Purple Eagles lost the first set, 25-20, and the second set, 25-17.

The Purple Eagles battled the Bruins (2-7) deep into the third set. Ellen Senf, who led NU in kills with seven, brought Niagara within 24-23 before Belmont snatched the victory on the next point.

Kari Honomichl was named to the all-tournament for the third straight tournament. The senior outside hitter averaged 2.55 kills per set and 2.9 digs per set during the three match invitational.

Niagara opens MAAC competition next weekend when the Purple Eagles travel to face Siena on Sept. 15 and Marist on Sept. 16.
