The Niagara volleyball team returns to MAAC action this weekend with road contests versus Manhattan on Saturday and Saint Peter’s on Sunday.
NU (6-8, 3-1 MAAC) had its three-match winning streak snapped in a five-set nailbiter at Syracuse on Wednesday. The Purple Eagles still have a three-match win streak in conference games against dropping Marist, Rider and Loyola.
NU has one player ranking in the top six in the conference in the following categories: hitting percentage (Ellen Senf - .276), kills (Kari Honomichl – 3.49), assists (Michelle James – 8.78), aces (Taylor Edmonds - .37) and digs (Allison Reis – 5.26) who ranks 31st in the nation.
The Purple Eagles have dominated the series against Manhattan (8-8, 3-2 MAAC) and Saint Peter’s (1-16, 0-4 MAAC) in the last three seasons. NU has won the last six meetings with the Jaspers, including escaping in last season’s five-set match at Manhattan. The Jaspers are on a four-match winning streak and sit a half-game behind NU in the standings. The Purple Eagles are 5-1 in the last six encounters with Saint Peter’s, including winning five straight.
