The Niagara Purple Eagles will travel east on I-90 to take on the Syracuse Orange on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Niagara (6-7) is in a midst of a three-match after successfully winning two matches in its home opening weekend against MAAC foes Rider and Loyola. NU had a balance attack all weekend, anchored by senior
Michelle James who led the team in assists while recording her most kills since 2008 on Saturday.
The last two meetings between NU and SU (7-8) have been classic. In 2009, the Orange edged the Purple Eagles in five sets at the Gallagher Center. Last season, Niagara rallied to pick up its first-ever win in the series (1-14) in a five-set thriller in the second annual Block Blood Cancers match.
Kari Honomichl has shined in her two meetings versus the Orange. She registered her career-high in kills with 31 in 2009 and had a match-high 18 kills to go along with 11 digs in last season's victory.
SU has dropped its last three matches after winning four straight. Silvi Uattara leads the team with 3.58 kills per set and Emily Betteridge leads in assists with 9.29 per set.
