BUFFALO, N.Y. - Senior forward
Jamie Raepple gave the Niagara women's soccer team their first win of the season with a double overtime goal to down the Buffalo Bulls, 1-0 on Sunday evening.
In the 108th minute of play and the scored tied at zero, junior forward
Kayla Picanco fed a through ball up the middle to Raepple who slid a low shot past Bulls goalkeeper Ainsley Wheldon for her first tally of the season.
"This was a great team victory," head coach
Peter Veltri said. "To go on the road and beat a rival is always a good result. I was proud of the team for bouncing back after a poor outing on Friday. They showed a lot of character tonight."
Buffalo (1-4-1) held the offensive advantage during most of the contest, outshooting the Purple Eagles (1-2-0) 15-7 heading into overtime. Niagara picked up its intensity in extra time though, seeing four looks on goal compared to the Bulls' two.

Danielle Kennedy, and rookie midfielders

Kori Thorne also contributed opportunities for the Purple Eagles to score.
Freshman goalkeeper
Claire Feiertag recorded her first collegiate shutout, making four saves.
Niagara are back in action on Friday, Sept. 7, when it takes on Ohio University at 4 p.m.
