NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. - The Purple Eagles start a three-game road trip with a weekend series against Atlantic Hockey opponent the Army Black Knights on Friday, Nov. 9 and Saturday, Nov. 10. Niagara then takes on cross-town rival the Canisius Golden Griffins on Nov. 16 before kick starting a four-game home stand with Robert Morris the following day.

Niagara’s game versus Army will be broadcasted live on WJJL 1440 AM and PurpleEagles.com, with Jeremy White on the call. Saturday’s contest will be available on Time Warner Cable in the Western N.Y. region on Channel 87.
Last Time Out
The Purple Eagles (4-2-3) swept UConn to improve their conference mark to 3-0-0. Niagara shutout the Huskies both contests, dropping UConn 3-0 on Friday, Nov. 2, before a convincing 5-0 victory the following day.
Five NU players had a multiple point weekend, with
Giancarlo Iuorio leading the charge (5-1-6).
Marc Zanette (0-4-4),
Ryan Murphy (1-4-5),
Jeff Hannan (0-2-2) and
Matt Chartrain (1-1-2) also added to the Niagara offense.
Carsen Chubak made 60 stops en route to his second and third shutouts of the season, and of his career.
Five-Game Unbeaten Streak
NU is currently on a five-game unbeaten streak, going 3-0-2 in its last five contests.
The streak began with a 3-3 draw against MSU on Oct. 20, followed by a shutout victory against Clarkson. The Purps wrapped up the series against the Golden Knights with a 4-4 tie, and won a pair against AHA foe UConn this past weekend.
Scouting The Black Knights
Army welcomes NU to Tate Rink with a 2-3-1 overall record, and a 2-0-1 conference mark.
Andy Starczewski leads the Black Knights offensively (4-6-10), with Joe Kozlak is not far behind with six points on the season (2-4-6).
Rob Tadazak will likely earn the nod in net for Army with 118 saves to his name, earning a .887 save percentage and a 3.95 goals-against average.
Last Time vs. Army
Niagara swept the Black Knights last season, outscoring its opponent by a 7-1 margin in two games.
On Jan. 13, NU defeated Army by a 5-1 margin getting scores from five different Purple Eagles. The following day, the Purps shutout the Black Knights, 3-0.
Marc Zanette wrapped up the weekend 2-1-3, while
Giancarlo Iuorio added two helpers.
Lighting the Lamp
In eight games against Army, Niagara has outscored the Black Knights by a 32-15 margin, with seven contests seeing NU get three or more goals in a single game.
Iuorio Finding Net
Giancarlo Iuorio collected six points in two games against UConn, scoring his first career hat trick on Nov. 2, before adding another two scores and a helper the next day.
Iuorio now has a team-leading 11 points on the season (8-3-11), and is ranked seventh in the nation in goals per game (0.89).
AHA Accolades
Goaltender
Carsen Chubak and forward
Giancarlo Iuorio were honored with AHA Weekly awards this past week. Chubak earned Goalie of the Week for the third time this season and Iuorio was tabbed Player of the Week. Chubak was also named AHA Goalie of the Month during October.
Seeing Zeros
The Purple Eagles last three wins have been blank slates, outscoring their opponents by a 10-0 margin. This marks the first time in the program’s history that three consecutive wins have come without allowing a goal.
