Volleyball Wraps Up Home Schedule With Saint Peter’s, Manhattan

The Niagara Purple Eagles conclude their 2012 home schedule with 2 p.m. matches versus Saint Peter’s and Manhattan this weekend with both matches airing on Lockport Community Television (LCTV).

Niagara (14-10, 11-3 MAAC) enters its final home weekend as one of the hottest teams in the MAAC. The Purple Eagles have the conference’s longest win streak at five matches and are 8-2 in their last 10 matches. NU is currently in first place tie with Fairfield and Canisius; NU holds the tie breaker over Canisius, but lost its only meeting with Fairfield, who will play each other on Nov. 10.

This weekend marks the last home matches for seniors Kari HonomichlMichelle James and Amanda Wilken  Honomichl had a team-leading 13 double-doubles, leads the conference with 3.69 kills per set and is 43rd in the nation in aces per set (.38). James, who is a two-time MAAC Setter of the Year, has recorded double-doubles in NU’s last three matches. Wilken leads NU in blocks this season.

Niagara hosts Saint Peter’s on Saturday and will look to win its seventh straight in the series. On Sunday, NU will look to avenge its four-set loss to Manhattan on Sept. 29 which snapped NU’s three-match conference win streak and its six-match win streak versus the Jaspers.
