NEW ROCHELLE, NY. - The Niagara women's soccer team were unable to complete the comeback against the Iona Gaels and dropped a 2-1 decision on Sunday afternoon.
After the Purple Eagles (6-7; 1-3 MAAC) evened the game at one in the opening stages of the second half, sophomore Melissa Fredrick gave Iona (5-6-2; 3-1 MAAC) its second lead of the game in the 73rd minute of play and the Gaels held onto the advantage for the victory.
"It's a difficult loss to grasp," head coach

Niagara increased the pressure on Iona following intermission and its efforts paid off in the 56th minute. Sophomore

Michaela DiFazio.

The Purple Eagles continue conference play next weekend when they welcome the Manhattan Jaspers on Friday, Oct. 12 and the St. Peter's Peacocks on Sunday, Oct. 14.
