NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – The Niagara volleyball team extended its win streak against Marist to nine matches with a dominating sweep (25-6, 25-20, 25-16) on Saturday.
Niagara (11-10, 8-3 MAAC) had one of its most efficient offensive matches of the season. NU had a .355 hitting percentage, as Marist (7-14, 3-8 MAAC) hit .000. The Purple Eagles’ two highest hitting percentages of the season have come against Marist.
Niagara made sure the result was never in doubt. NU rolled to a 25-6 first set while hitting .400 and holding Marist to -.207. NU trailed briefly in the second set and with the scored tied at 19-19, NU used a 6-1 run to close out the set. The Purple Eagles never trailed in the third set.
Ellen Senf led the match with 12 kills and finished with a team season-best .611 hitting percentage.
Amanda Wilken and
Taylor Edmonds each had seven kills. Kari Honomichl’s streak of seven consecutive matches with a double-double came to an end as she finished with six kills and six digs.
Niagara will face the Siena Saints on Sunday at 2 p.m.
