Women's Soccer Starts MAAC Play

NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. - The Niagara women's soccer team (2-7-0) hit the road this weekend to begin Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play against Saint Peter's and Manhattan.

The Purple Eagles are a combined 15-3 against Saint Peter's (1-7-1, 0-0-0 MAAC) and Manhattan (2-5-1, 0-0-0 MAAC), dating back to the 2002 season. Niagara also owns a 7-1 mark against the Peahens and the Jaspers on the road, dating back to the 2002 season.

Leading the Purple Eagles is Breanna Catipovic, who has scored two goals, an assist and five points so far this season. Catherine Meyer and Laura Kimoto has scored two goals apiece for the Purple Eagles.

Niagara starts the road trip against Saint Peter's on 3 p.m. Friday, looking for its ninth win in 10 tries against the Peahens. The Purple Eagles hold a 3-1 mark on the road against Saint Peter's since the 2003 season.

The Purple Eagles wrap up their weekend series against Manhattan on Sunday at 10 a.m., looking for the program's fifth consecutive away win over the Jaspers. Niagara will also look to expand on its 7-2 record against Manhattan in its last nine games, dating back to the 2002 season.

Following this weekend's action, the Purple Eagles come back home to host Rider on Oct. 7 and Loyola (Md.) on Oct. 9.
